Egg, the Prudential's new direct banking arm, is telling customers
that they could have to wait 28 days from submitting their applications to
having their accounts opened due to the amount of enquiries it has
received since the direct facility was launched at the beginning of last
month. In the first five days following Egg's high profile launch (advert
shown left), it received about 65,000 telephone enquiries. It also had
more than a million hits on its website.
