Critical illness is a valuable cover to have - the problem is that many brokers and intermediaries do not stress its importance and value to potential clients, says Ian Lindisfarne.

Technical director at insurance brokers John Charcol Robert Guy is
clear about the merits of selling critical illness cover: "We find it is a
product the client wants and values once he understands the cover it
provides. We don't come across the price objection very much and when you
look at the likelihood of claiming, it seems good value for money." Well
over half the firm's endowment mortgage business is sold with the addition
of CI cover, and the attractions are not confined to this area alone
