Following a strategic review, the Automobile Association is closing
its 142 high street shops and ending its joint underwriting venture with
Eagle Star.


The closures will be completed by August next year and will result in 850
redundancies.


The AA said its restructuring was, in part, due to the decline in
insurance sales through its high street street branches.
