The amateur football insurance market looks set expand amid growing
speculation that personal accident cover could be made mandatory for clubs
playing in leagues affiliated to the Football Association. The FA has set
up a working party to look at whether clubs and players are adequately
insured. While it has not yet released any of its findings, early
indications are that many of the 43 county FAs would back a move to make
personal accident insurance compulsory for all its clubs and players.
