Kent-based underwriting agency Towergate Underwriting Group has made
two acquisitions and several key staff appointments.


The company has acquired the non-life portfolio of the Medical Insurance
Agency, an intermediary and independent financial advisers which targets
the medical profession. MIA's general insurance division has a premium
income of over £17m.


Towergate has also acquired broker Canterbury Insurance Practice, which
has gross written premiums approaching £4m.
