The Financial Services Authority has maintained it will not get
involved in intermediary wholesaling, despite the recent problems with
Preston Whiteside and JR Carrigan & Son.


NIG recently cancelled JR Carrigan's agency after it discovered a number
of serious anomalies in proposals it put forward. In each instance Preston
Whiteside, which had no relationship with NIG, was also involved. South
Yorkshire police are investigating the case but NIG believes JR Carrigan
was wholesaling its policies to
