Manchester-based Bollington has set up a Lloyd's broker to capitalise on its care home and charity specialties. The venture, which was due to start trading on April 1, will offer wholesale facilities to brokers operating in these markets.

Bollington is also stepping up its acquisition efforts, with several said to be in the pipeline. The broker has also just acquired the £8m premium controlling Preston-based Wallwork Jensen. The deal sees Bollington's premium pushing £60m and is in line with its
