Arson accounts for the majority of fires in churches. This sad state of affairs is made worse by the fact the churches are becoming increasingly vulnerable to theft. Steve Banner reports.
A fete held to raise funds to repair the tottering church spiresounds a blameless enough event. But suppose the firework display held at
its close results in a stray rocket whistling through the door of Farmer
Giles' barn, setting fire to the hay and burning the barn to the
ground?
The church organised the fete, and can be held responsible for the
disaster - which goes to show that church insurance is about much more
