The Association of British Insurers is tackling the problem of fraud
head-on with the launch of a major advertising campaign in the national
press and on transport systems, stressing that fraud is punishable by
imprisonment.


The association has also set up a fraud telephone line called Cheatline,
which allows those with any information about fraudulent claims to report
them in confidence. According to a spokesman for the ABI, the line has
already been a resounding success, recording over 40 calls
