UK was still in recession in third quarter
The recession is worst since records began in 1955
According to official first estimate, UK's gross domestic product shrunk 0.4% between July and September this year, the UK's sixth consecutive quarter of contraction.
The estimate has dashed hopes of a return to growth in the third quarter although the figures could be revised upwards. The services sector performed particularly badly.
