FSA delays PPI policy statement on back of industry reaction

FSA hit by claims proposals are too ambiguous

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has come under fire for it's proposals for payment protection insurance (PPI) as it announced it was delaying the publication of its policy statement on the sector.

According to Martin Membery, partner at Pinset Masons, the FSA's consultation paper, entitled The Assessment and Redress of Payment Protection Insurance Complaints, "unhelpfully didn't really make any attempt to draw out the respective roles to be performed by the intermediaries for the products

Lords Committee ‘unconvinced’ on FCA name and shame proposal

The House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee is unconvinced on the FCA’s name and shame plans as it branded the consultation an “abject failure” and urged if concerns have not been addressed in the regulator’s second consultation the proposals should not go ahead.
