UK emerges from recession
Figures from the Office for National Statistics released this morning showed the UK economy has left recession after six consecutive quarters of negative growth, the longest period of contraction on record. The ONS reported that in the months October to December of 2009 the economy grew by 0.1.%.

The ONS reported that in the months October to December of 2009 the economy grew by 0.1.%.
According to the statement, the increase in output was due mainly to increases in distribution, hotels and restaurants and government and other services.
