UK General hoping to stand out by sharing risk

UK General is prepared to share underwriting risk with potential insurer partners in an attempt to distance itself from the Primary General business model and name.

The news follows the announcement that the underwriting function is to be removed from the old Primary General network and centralised in Leeds, which has raised doubts about the long-term future of its branch network. Scotland and Northern Ireland will retain the underwriting pen but up to 20 jobs are expected to be lost as part of the restructure.
