Osborne and Laws announce spending cuts for 2010/11
The coalition has set out bold plans to cut £6.243bn for existing fiscal year, in a move that has prompted Clegg to defend a manifesto u-turn citing the Greek debt crisis.
George Osborne, the new Chancellor and Treasury minister David Laws, have outlined their plans to cut public spending by over £6bn this fiscal year as outlined by the Conservatives in the general election campaign. Although the Liberal Democrats did not support the cuts in the general election deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has since said that the Greek crisis led to him re-evaluating the situation.
