Insurers issue ash-cloud travel insurance advice

Aviva and Ageas have stated their positions on their travel insurance policies following the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland which has closed parts of the UK airspace.

Both insurers advised policyholders to contact their travel operators or airlines in the first instance if they were concerned about their flights being disrupted.

Ageas stated that customers with a policy start date prior to 23 May 2011, who also booked their trip prior to 23 May 2011, will be covered as per their policy terms and conditions.
