Product's roundup: Insurers save the best for Biba 2011

biba-2011

The last month has been all about Biba 2011 so, unsurprisingly, it dominates the content of the schemes and products pages. The most contentious aspect of the coverage however, comes from a scheme the trade body launched for non-PMI brokers. Its aim to widen the market to include general insurance brokers has been as popular with PMI brokers as the levy request from the FSCS. So much so that the scheme was temporarily pulled after members complained about a clause which required the introducing broker to hand all currently held business to Biba’s partner Jelf.

Luckily for the association, this bad feeling did not leak into its conference, which was a resounding success. Exhibitors touted their wares to brokers and, interestingly, or perhaps appropriately, there was a clear focus on online products. Aviva, Jubilee, Catlin and Ecclesiastical all saw the annual broker shindig as an opportunity to get on the e-broking radar.

Brit also seized an online opportunity with the launch of its online scheme with broker Atkinson Smith. Powered by Edge IPK software
