Motor cover for the young to average £3,600 in 2013 says Mazars
Accountancy firm Mazars has predicted motor insurance increases of at least 50% over the next two years for young drivers, taking their typical motor premium up to £3,600.
The company warned that this would have a huge impact on the young and would make motoring unaffordable for many, hitting those in rural areas who do not have public transport alternatives hardest.
Mazars cited figures from the AA showing that a typical premium of £2,431 for a young adult had risen by 64% over the past 12 months. It added that with impending changes preventing pricing based on gender, young women would be particularly badly hit.
