Bulletin from Bordeaux: Axa’s global chief sees UK market hardening

In his third special report from Axa's media conference in Bordeaux, Emmanuel Kenning reports on UK commercial market hardening and Axa's global prospects.

Chairman and chief executive of Axa Group, Henri de Castries, has claimed the hardening in the UK commercial market "is starting now".

Speaking to journalists at the insurer's media seminar in Bordeaux, Mr de Castries said: "The hardening of the market, which has been in a very serious way, is starting now on commercial lines."

When pushed to explain the areas he saw developing, he added: "We are starting to see that in property. There are one or two lines where we are [also] starting to see it
