David Williams tells Emmanuel Kenning how Axa lost its way, his part in putting it on the right track and how he has managed to survive and thrive at the company
David Williams does not think that he is Axa’s very own Red Adair. However his curriculum vitae would beg to differ. Having fallen into a trainee casualty underwriter role for Provincial he soon moved to Maidstone, helped the branch become bigger and more profitable than his home city of Bristol and then found himself sent to Haverhill. In 1995 the then largest office outside London had “a huge problem”.
