Much has been made of the record fine handed out to Willis for ‘failings in its anti-bribery and corruption systems and controls’. Basically, they didn’t try hard enough to ensure members of staff were not bribing businesses abroad to win contracts.
There’s been the usual gnashing of teeth and the told you sos but what really matters is that it shows the regulator has plenty of appetite to investigate the potential for bribery – and hand out fines. So should your average, garden variety broker
