Aviva remains silent on possible 1,000 job losses in Ireland
Aviva could be set to slash up to 1,000 jobs in Ireland, double the previously estimated number.
According to a report in the Irish Independent, speculation about jobs cuts had been mounting in Ireland since February, but no firm information has been forthcoming from Aviva.
The regional officer of the Unite union, Brian Gallagher, whose union represents 1,300 of Aviva’s 2,000 staff, said he felt frustrated at the lack of communication from the insurer.
He added that the union was attempting to work with the company to point out "the strategy was wrong" but that industrial action would not
