Quinn's wife ordered to repay €3m loan
Patricia Quinn, wife of bankrupt businessman Sean Quinn, has been ordered to repay more than €3m (£2.6m), to the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC), formerly Anglo Irish Bank, according to the Irish Times.
The newspaper reports that IBRC claimed the loan, which was made jointly to her and her husband in 2006, was intended for decorative costs at the Quinn’s home in Co. Cavan, but the court heard Mr Quinn had directed that the €3m be paid into an account of Quinn Manufacturing.
Mr Justice Peter Kelly rejected Mrs Quinn’s arguments that she was not obliged to repay the loan because she is a “homemaker” and was unduly influenced by her husband.
