MIB chief criticises Arsenal star for driving offence

Ashton West, chief executive at the Motor Insurers’ Bureau, has hit out at Arsenal star Nicklas Bendtner for setting a bad example by driving without insurance.

Mr Bendtner was recently fined nearly £5,000 for being caught driving without a licence or insurance by police in South Tyneside this May. At the time he reportedly told the police that he had no insurance or proper number plates on the car because he had a "friend who sorts that out for me".

However, Mr West said he was disappointed by the actions of the Arsenal forward.

"It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, there are no excuses for driving without insurance," commented Mr West.
