NIG to create senior business development roles

light-through-cloud

NIG will create senior business development manager (SBDM) roles to replace the broker-facing positions set to be lost as part of parent Direct Line Group's cost-cutting drive.

In September, the group revealed the proposed redundancy of almost 900 staff as part of the ‘first phase' to make £100m gross annual cost savings by 2014.

Market sources have indicated that between 15 and 25 business development managers (BDM) will be made redundant at NIG next month.

However, Insurance Age understands that to compensate for the losses NIG will also create a number of SBDM roles.

It is hoped the new roles will offset the loss of the BDMs with the SBDMs handed more responsibility
