Willis chief hails "impressive turnaround" of its UK business
The "impressive turnaround" of Willis' UK business during the third quarter of 2012 was welcomed despite the broking giant seeing its net income drop by a third, according to its latest financial results.
The UK - which forms part of Willis' international segment - recorded low single-digit growth in commissions and fees but overall Willis saw its net income fall to $26m for the three months ended 30 September, down from $60m last year.
In total, Willis' international segment reported a 2% decline in commissions and fees compared with the third quarter of 2011, with the broker reporting that foreign currency movements had a negative 7% impact on the sector.
