Woman guilty of claiming cats and dogs
A woman from Northern Ireland has been sentenced to 240 hours community service after fraudulently claiming £13,558.50 for kennelling her dogs and cats.
Susan McGrattan, 34, from Newtownards, made the pet claim despite looking after the animals in her rental house while remedial work was being carried out on her home to stabilise its foundations.
While the home insurance claim was valid, she insisted that her rental landlord would not allow her three dogs and three cats to be kept in the building.
Zurich therefore agreed to pay for the kennelling costs while the repairs were undertaken.
