Das in talks to buy First Assist

Das is in takeover talks with First Assist Legal Protection, Insurance Age can reveal.

Insurance Age understands that discussions have reached the due diligence stage between the two legal expenses insurers, with a deal earmarked for completion in early January.

Sources close to negotiations have stressed it is not a done deal.

Both First Assist and Das are yet to comment about the takeover talks which are understood to have begun in the summer.

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
