Market moves: Business as usual?
The appointment we’ve all been waiting for was finally announced last month, as the new Biba boss was revealed – and after all the gossip and speculation it’s hard to tell whether anyone was entirely surprised to discover that the new Eric Galbraith is to be none other than Steve White. There were quite a few farewells over the past month, including RSA’s Paul Donaldson, who is set to retire in early 2014. The provider also saw the departure of Chris Sime, who had worked for the company for a quarter of a century. Brokers were determined not to be outshone, and firms ranging from the Policy Shop to Bridge Insurance Brokers and Marsh all made changes at a senior level.
There can be no doubt about the biggest appointment last month – the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (Biba) finally revealed Steve White as its new chief executive.
Mr White will leave his current role of head of compliance and training to step into Eric Galbraith’s shoes on 1 May 2013. He has been with the trade body since 2004 and previously worked at Guardian Royal Exchange Group, the General Insurance Standards Council and the Financial Services Authority.
