Market moves: End of an era

It was the end of an era this month for three insurance stalwarts. Both Andrew Torrance, Allianz UK CEO, and Ecclesiastical UK managing director Steve Wood confirmed they were calling time on their 10 and seven-year stints in their respective roles. While over in high net worth land, Oak Underwriting chief Bob Trott also revealed plans to leave the provider.

There is only one place to start this month. After just shy of 10 years at the helm of Allianz UK, Andrew Torrance caught the market on the back foot with the announcement he would leave the UK and head stateside to California. He has agreed to take over the role of CEO at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. Not quite as exciting as it sounds, the Fireman’s Fund is a property and casualty insurer which provides personal and commercial insurance. It is part of the Allianz Group, with the insurer
