MPs hand Soca Monday deadline to publish rogue investigator list
MPs have given the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) a deadline of Monday 9 September to publish the list of insurance companies and law firms who hired rogue private investigators.
The Independent reported that the Home Affairs Select Committee told senior Soca officials they had to publish the names of the 102 blue-chip clients by the beginning of next week.
Soca was warned that if it failed to do so, MPs would publish the list instead as it was in the public's interest.
Labour chairman of the committee, Keith Vaz, reportedly criticised Soca for having done "absolutely nothing" to clamp down on the clients who used the investigators.
