Home Affairs Committee extends rogue investigator timescale
The Home Affairs Committee has given the Information Commissioner (IC) until 8 October to conduct a two-week "scoping exercise" in a bid to establish the scale of the blue-chip private investigator storm.
It comes after IC Christopher Graham requested that the list of clients which have used rogue private investigators should not be released at the moment.
Graham argued that publication of the clients would impede the Serious Organised Crime Agency's (SOCA) criminal investigation.
The Committee agreed that Graham's team should carry out a fortnight's investigation ahead of reporting back at a meeting set for 8 October.
