Experian's data reveals jump in number of detected fraudulent applications.

Detected insurance fraud reached its highest recorded level in 2013, with 17 cases detected in every 10,000 applications.

The figures come from Experian’s latest fraud index, which revealed a 39.7% increase on the level recorded in 2012, when 12 in every 10,000 applications were found to be fraudulent.

Last year was the third consecutive year of increased fraudulent activity in the insurance market.
