PPI complaints to Ombudsman fall nearly 50%

PPI makes up 87% of insurance complaints in 2014/15

The Financial Ombudsman Service (Fos) received 204,943 complaints about payment protection insurance (PPI) in the year to 31 March 2015.

This represented a near halving of complaints - down 48.8% - from the 399,939 in the previous 12 months.

According to the figures from the government-body, PPI accounted for 63% of all the new complaints it received in the year. However, this was down on the 78% recorded the year before.
