Marsh to build SMEi after acqusition, says Page

SMEi is growing well and is scalable according to Page.

Julie Page, chief executive of Marsh's UK commercial and consumer division, described the broker's acquisition of SME Insurance Services (SMEi) as like getting "a missing piece of a jigsaw puzzle".

Marsh agreed to buy the Leeds-based business for an undisclosed sum and the deal is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.

Marsh believes the transaction will enhance its capability to serve small- and medium-sized businesses across the UK and follows its earlier acquisition of Central
