O'Roarke: Horwich Farrelly is something "completely different"

LV managing director says he will miss the "buzz and energy" at the insurer.

John O'Roarke has told Insurance Age that the chance to do something "completely different" has prompted his move to industry law firm Horwich Farrelly.

He has taken up the role of chairman at the firm and will leave his current role as managing director of general insurance at LV.

The latter is due to happen in the second quarter of this year when his successor Steve Treloar, from Aviva, is scheduled to take up the post with O'Roarke switching to an advisory role.

Industry reacts to discount rate change

Insurance industry specialists have welcomed the government moving the personal injury discount rate to 0.5% with PwC calculating it will lower motor premiums by £50 on average.
