▶ What are the origins of SJL Insurance?

From school I got a job as an apprentice at a broker. I worked my way up and did a few broking jobs and realised the difference between the deals that big brokers get from the insurers compared to the little guys. I set up SJL in 2001, the idea being to give small brokers the sort of deals that the big brokers get. There are a lot more people dealing with this now – wholesale and networks – but back in 2001 there wasn’t anyone doing it.
