Worries remain on subsidence but claims volume still uncertain

Earlier this month LV released figures showing that subsidence cases were up by 205% between June and July, and warned that they were likely to increase even more.

Neil Grimes, Clear Group’s claims director, counselled the broker had not seen an increase in subsidence cases as he noted the figures reported by LV could result in being just minor damage. 

Grimes said: “You have got things like your house being empty and you don’t have heating on and off. You are going to get cracks in your plaster. In new builds, you will always get settling cracks. Even in existing houses, the weather will create cracks around doors and windows. All of these are not
