Despite the recent anti-capitalist City-centre demonstrations, the office sector still attracts a lot of interest and remains a profitable sector for insurers, says Simon Threadgold.

As the May Day demonstrations in London proved, City-centre offices
continue to be at risk from anarchists and anti-capitalists. This time,
offices escaped lightly, compared with the £2m damage caused in the City
last July. But the threat remains a worry for property investors.


Most office blocks are owned by financial institutions and property
companies.


Instead of being owner-occupied, they are leased out to tenants. The
tenants normally sign a "full repairing and insuring" lease, with the
landlor
