The plans of brands to expand their customer bases with insurance products signals another supposed threat to the broker market, but, as with direct writing, this is unlikely to sound the death knell for brokers.
It is not a pretty sight to witness the motor insurance industryhaemorrhaging in the face of years of competitive pricing. So much for
those who place the prospect of underwriting success solely in the hands
of the actuaries, who now appear to be causing more harm than good. How
else do you explain the recent disillusionment of most of the major
composite market with their direct writing operations?
