The Association of British Insurers has stated that its members willcontinue to provide flood insurance for as many domestic properties and
small businesses as possible.
The organisation has released a statement of principles, replacing the
temporary agreement created by the industry after the floods of 2000.
It states that insurers will maintain flood cover for homes and businesses
already insured, as long as flood defences sufficient to meet the
government's standards are completed on schedule
