Insurance companies are failing to promote direct debit payment adequately, says an Inform report for the UK banking industry.A survey into premium payments found only 50% of insurers promote direct debit at quotation and renewal stage. Despite this, insurance was found to be the household expense most commonly paid for by direct debit. The survey found 76% of non-life insurance bills were paid for using this method.
