The General Insurance Standards Council has called a temporary halt
to consultation on the regulation of claims handling procedures while it
waits for the Association of British Insurers to complete the wording of
its Claims Code.


Chris Woodburn, GISC chief executive, said: "We decided to delay our
consultation on this issue so that the ABI could continue its work
undisturbed." He stressed that the GISC was still open to the idea of
regulating claims procedures in the future.
