A compact market.

The market for vans and trucks is not huge, but it is growing and so too are premiums. Diane Smyth examines the markets available to brokers looking to make inroads into the commercial motor market.

The market for van and truck insurance is by no means huge.
Peter Allott, market development manager at Norwich Union, estimates
there are two million vans of less than 3.5 tonnes, and 600,000
heavy duty trucks on the road. Neil Clutterbuck, commercial motor
insurance manager at Royal & SunAlliance, believes the market is
expanding, however saying: "Commercial vehicle registrations have
increased by 4% on 1999."
