The Association of British Insurers has launched a drive to improvecustomer awareness about extended insurance on domestic goods or
mechanical breakdown cover when buying a car. This follows research by the
association which finds that British households have become increasingly
dependent on labour saving devices. There are an estimated 50 million
policies of this type in the UK, which represents two policies per
household.
