The Association of British Insurers and the British BankersAssociation have dismissed speculation that they are to merge. There have
been widespread rumours that the two trade bodies are involved in merger
talks to create a mega-trade association to represent the new breed of
bancassurers. The ABI admitted that talks had taken place, but said it was
too early for an announcement.
