Motor insurance premiums have risen steeply in the first three months
of 2000, according to the AA's British Premium Index. The average
comprehensive policy now costs £537, an increase of £30 over the last
quarter and £92 since last April. However, buildings premiums have risen
by only 1% to an average of £130 over the last quarter, and contents by
