Q: We joined the General Insurance Standards Council some time ago
but, as this will cease to exist when the Financial Services Authority
takes over, is there any advantage in continuing to be a member?


A: It is likely that statutory regulation by the Financial Services
Authority will come into effect by Autumn 2004 at the earliest. Both the
General Insurance Standards Council and the FSA have made it clear that
there can be no 'grandfathering' of firms into the FSA - applications
will, therefore
