Norwich Union is warning motorists about the long-term cost
implications of buying an imported car. Over 100,000 "grey" import cars
arrive in the UK each year, but NU claims their owners face increased
insurance premiums and reduced resale values. Research by the insurer has
revealed that owners of grey import vehicles may have to pay two or three
times the normal market rate for spare parts and also experience delays of
up to three months for repair work.
