Commercial lines brokers are not doing the most for their clients if they fail to offer marine cargo cover, says Steve Banner.
Brokers with commercial lines clients that supply goods eitherdomestically or internationally are doing them a disservice if they fail
to offer them marine cargo cover, according to Jonathan Eaton, London
regional manager at Norwich Union's UK marine division.
"Clients may assume that the freight forwarder or transport company will
reimburse them in the event of loss or damage, but that won't necessarily
be the case," he says. Their terms of carriage may restrict their
liability to the customer
