The right of insurance companies to see the results of prospectivecustomers' genetic tests is to be examined by a government panel. Insurers
claim they should be told if someone has already had a genetic test to
discover if they have inherited a particular illness or condition. The
government's Genetics and Insurance Committee is scheduled to meet in May
and June to look at 10 tests which could be permitted for use by
insurers.
